Mahindra & Mahindra has revealed the pricing for additional variants of the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The updated 5-door SUV is set to compete with models such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, while also positioning itself as a rival to off-roaders like the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha.
Mahindra is targeting the position of the largest SUV manufacturer in the “Rs 12.50 lakh and above” segment within the next three to five years, leveraging the Thar Roxx to achieve this goal. The company already has a strong foothold in this price range with its popular Scorpio and flagship XUV700. Currently, the Scorpio leads in sales volume, while the XUV700 holds the fifth spot.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx has been introduced with over 60 patents and is built on the new M_Glyde platform. This platform is 18% lighter, weighing 179 kg, and offers 41% higher bending frequency and 51% higher torsional frequency. Additionally, more than 88% of the platform is constructed from high-strength steel.
The SUV is equipped with advanced 4X4 capabilities, featuring a front independent double-wishbone suspension and a rear penta-link suspension. It also includes cutting-edge damper technologies such as frequency-dependent damping, a hydraulic rebound stopper, and a multi-tune valve with concentric land. The vehicle is outfitted with brake locking differentials on both the front and rear, along with an electric locking differential. It boasts an impressive water wading depth of 650mm and is equipped with electric power steering for enhanced control.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx features a longer wheelbase of 2,850mm, surpassing that of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, both of which have a 2,610mm wheelbase. Additionally, the new SUV offers a substantial 644 liters of boot space.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx offers multiple engine choices. The more powerful options include the G20 TGDI mStallion petrol engine, delivering 177PS and 380Nm of torque, and the D22 mHawk diesel engine, producing 175PS and 370Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed Aisin automatic. The SUV is available in both RWD and AWD configurations. It features two drive modes—Zip and Zoom—and three terrain modes: Sand, Mud, and Snow. Additionally, it comes equipped with SmartCrawl (4X4) and Intelliturn (4X4) features. For the entry-level variants, there are also petrol and diesel engine options delivering 162PS and 330Nm and 152PS and 330Nm, respectively.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is equipped with over 35 standard safety features, including six airbags and 3-point seatbelts for all seats. On the exterior, it boasts an all-LED lighting system, covering the headlamps, DRLs, fog lamps, and taillamps. The SUV rides on newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx isn’t just an SUV; it’s an experience crafted for those who crave adventure with a touch of luxury. At the heart of its interior, you’ll find dual 10.25-inch screens that seamlessly blend a high-tech touchscreen infotainment system with an intuitive instrument panel, putting everything you need right at your fingertips. Imagine the comfort of automatic climate control, a six-way powered driver seat, and front ventilated seats that make every journey a pleasure, no matter the weather. The rich, immersive sound of the Harman Kardon audio system, with its nine speakers, turns every drive into a concert on wheels.
And it doesn’t stop there—stay connected and in control with wireless charging, a 360-degree surround-view system for unparalleled awareness, and a panoramic sunroof that invites the sky into your world. The Adrenox technology offers more than 80 connectivity features, ensuring you’re always in touch with the things that matter. Safety takes center stage with Level-2 ADAS, making the Thar Roxx not just a rugged off-roader, but a true protector on the road. This SUV is the third in Mahindra’s lineup to be graced with this advanced system, following in the footsteps of the acclaimed XUV700 and the new XUV 3XO. The Mahindra Thar Roxx isn’t just a vehicle—it’s where your journey begins.
