Ratan Tata is undoubtedly one of India’s most esteemed industrialists, recognized worldwide for his sagacity, visionary leadership, philanthropy, and business acumen. Despite his reduced social presence in recent years, his quotes and principles continue to circulate on various social media platforms. It is important to remember that not everything you encounter on these platforms is accurate, and some of the quotes attributed to Ratan Tata can be misleading. Similarly, there’s misinformation surrounding the image of Ratan Tata’s envisioned Tata Nano Electric Vehicle (EV).
A purported image of the upcoming Tata Nano EV has been making its way through social media with various captions. Some claim it to be “Ratan Tata’s dream car, the Tata Nano in a new avatar,” while others assert that it’s in production with an extraordinary range. However, it’s essential to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of such claims, as they may not always align with reality.

The viral social media post states, “Ratan Tata Ji’s Dream Car ‘Tata Nano’ is going to be Launched in India in its new Avtaar, this Avtaar of Tata Nano will be in the form of an Electric Car, which can cost between Rs 2-3 lakhs.” While the car depicted in the image appears impressive and the idea of a new Tata Nano launch is intriguing, it’s essential to clarify that the vehicle claimed to be the Tata Nano EV is, in fact, a Toyota Aygo hatchback. Notably, the Toyota Aygo is not available in the Indian market. This compact hatchback from the Japanese automaker is equipped with a 998cc petrol engine and boasts a feature-rich cabin.
While the viral post featuring an image of Ratan Tata alongside the Toyota Aygo hatchback is indeed misleading, it’s important to keep an open mind regarding the possibility of Tata Motors launching an electric version of the Tata Nano in the near future. Reports indicate that the company is considering leveraging the Tata Nano’s X3 platform to introduce an electric drivetrain. Over the past few months, Tata Motors has introduced several electric vehicles in the Indian market, and given the increasing popularity of compact EVs in India, the Tata Nano EV could potentially become a significant and game-changing addition to the market.
