Samsung is potentially preparing to launch the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, which serves as a more budget-friendly version of the existing Samsung Galaxy S23. The expected launch date for this release is in September. While there have been ongoing rumors about this particular smartphone model, Samsung has not yet officially confirmed its launch. The “fan-edition” (FE) series by Samsung typically offers a more economical alternative compared to their flagship models. Therefore, it can be assumed that the Galaxy S23 FE will be priced more affordably than the standard Galaxy S23. Notably, key specifications of the device have already been leaked ahead of the formal announcement.
According to informant Yogesh Brar on X (formerly Twitter), the Galaxy S23 FE boasts a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, slightly larger than the Galaxy S23’s 6.1-inch screen. Samsung might tinker with the construction quality to maintain its competitive pricing. There’s also a possibility that the Galaxy S23 FE will be positioned between the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus.
Brar adds that the phone derives its power from either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC or an Exynos 2200 SoC, contingent on the region. Previously, the Qualcomm chipset was confined to the US and Japanese phone markets, while the rest of the world, including India, received the Exynos variant.
The rear camera setup on the Galaxy S23 FE is rumored to consist of a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 12-megapixel camera. On the front, there might be a 10-megapixel selfie camera. Other notable features include OneUI 5.1 based on Android 13, a 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging, a commitment to provide four years of Android OS upgrades, wireless charging support, and a likely IP rating for dust and water resistance.

The exact launch date remains unclear, and it is also unknown if Samsung will launch the device in India. Recently, the South Korean tech giant refreshed the Galaxy S21 FE with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC for the Indian market. The company first launched the Galaxy S21 FE with Exynos 2100 SoC early last year. The price of the smartphone of the Snapdragon-power variant was set at Rs 49,999. The vanilla Galaxy S23 carries a starting price tag of Rs 74,999 in India. The Galaxy S23+ starts at Rs 94,999 (for the 256GB variant).

If Samsung indeed launches the Galaxy S23 FE in India, we can expect it to cost between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000. As mentioned, Samsung is yet to confirm the launch. It is also possible that the company might not launch a new FE variant already, given that the Galaxy S22 of last year, did not get a fan-edition.
